The Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC) in Magodo, a multi-disciplinary training institution, was established by the Lagos State Government in 1994 to train, retrain and develop staff of the public service as well as serve as consultants to government on staff development training. The instrument that established PSSDC provided for a Governing Council and the Centre had two under the chair of Dr. (Mrs.) Oyindamola Anjorin (1994 – 1998) and Professor Liasu Adele-Jinadu (1998 – 1999) respectively. However, this structure was suspended in May 1999 following the creation of the Ministry of Establishments, Training and Pensions and the assignment of the supervision of the Public Service Staff Development Centre as one of its ministerial responsibilities. The Ministry has had four (4) Commissioners and two (2) Special Advisers. The Commissioners include Chief (Mrs.) Kemi Nelson, Chief (Mrs.) Eniola Fadayomi, Chief Ebenezer Abiola Akinbolade and the incumbent, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu while the Special Advisers include Mr. Olugbenga Adeniyi Idowu and the incumbent, Honourable Oluwafemi Adebanjo. Under new leadership since August 2009, PSSDC is now undertaking a challenging transformation programme to develop cutting-edge learning and development solutions and consultancy to support the Lagos state vision of becoming Africa’s model mega city.
